HIT THE BEACH

In the summer months, Southwold beach is all buckets and spades, deckchairs, sunbathing and splashing in the surf. Lifeguards watch over sections of the beach and there’s a fantastic family atmosphere.

In colder months blow the cobwebs away along the promenade or walk to the harbour and on to Walberswick. Warm up with a drink in the pub or fish and chips back at Hope Holiday Cottage.

CHECK OUT THE PIER

It’s a pretty sight from the shore: a row of white buildings reaching 623 feet out into the North Sea. Rebuilt in the 1990s after years of neglect, the Pier stretches out on wooden boards to a T-shaped end where, once in a while, a traditional steamer vessel docks to take on passengers. On the pier are restaurants, arcade games, boutique shops and annual events. A great place to spend an afternoon!

TOUR ADNAMS BREWERY & DISTILLERY

Beer has been brewed in Southwold for 670 years. In 1872 The Sole Bay Brewery in Southwold was purchased by George and Ernest Adnams. And Adnams has since grown to worldwide success. Take a tour of the Brewery or the Distillery while you are here. Or even book yourself a class on making Gin!

GET SURFING!

Southwold Surf School is a vibrant and friendly surf school for all ages and abilities at the heart of the surfing community on the East Coast. They offer surf board hire, private lessons and group lessons.

HAVE A DAY OUT AT AFRICA ALIVE

Africa Alive! zoo is set in 100 acres of stunning Suffolk countryside and also offers the chance to spot a wide range of British wildlife. It's a great day out for all the family and only a 15 minute drive from Hope Cottage.
